On Friday, January 13th, LDDI hosted its annual winter meeting at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton. The event was attended by approximately 70 land development professionals, who were treated to an entertaining presentation on the ongoing transformation of the former D.C. Department of Corrections Laurel Hill prison facility to a vibrant mixed use community. Speakers included Ava Spece (CEO/President of the Workhouse Arts Center), Jack Perkins (VP, Elm Street Development), and Heather Diez, Dave Bowden, and Chris Caperton of Fairfax County. The meeting also featured presentations from CEE 4274 students, and an LDDI program overview delivered by Jeff Gilliland (J2 Engineers). Meeting attendees were awarded two PDH credits. The next meeting of LDDI’s General Membership will be in July in Richmond. Keep an eye out for your invitation!.
